Australian Women in Christian Peacemaker Team in Jerusalem

Thirteen people from across the Australia, the Netherlands, and the United States arrived in Jerusalem today as part of a delegation sponsored by Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT). During the next several days the delegates will speak with representatives of Israeli and Palestinian peace and human rights organizations. They will travel to the West Bank city of Al Khalil (Hebron) and the South Hebron Hills, where CPT's long-term Palestine team is based. They will visit Palestinian farmers and shepherds whose land and livelihoods have been threatened by expanding Israeli settlements.

Members of CPT's January 4-17 Israel/Palestine delegation are Rick Polhamus (Fletcher, Ohio, USA), Sophia Calcagno (Chicago Illinois, USA), Rocky Calcagno (Chicago Illinois, USA), Wallace Cole (Clemmons, North Carolina, USA), Laura Colee (Bloomington, Illinois, USA), Barry George (Austin Texas, USA), Cornelia de Graaf, (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Marlaina Leppert-Wahl (Lebanon Ohio, USA), Jessica Morrison (Melbourne, Victoria, Australia), Carole Powell(Morayfield, Queensland, Australia), Michael Snarr (Wilmington Ohio, USA), Caroline Spoeneman (Princeton New Jersey, USA), and Jennifer Svetlik (Washington, DC, USA).

Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT) is an initiative of the historic peace churches (Mennonites, Church of the Brethren, and Quakers) with support and membership from a range of Catholic and Protestant denominations. CPT has had a continuing presence in the West Bank since 1995.
